• Thing is, my family does NOT take photos. Ever. Of anything. Kids, special events, parties, family functions, vacations, road trips...nothing. Not only do we never LOOK at photos, we never think to take them, and even if we did, we'd have no idea what to take pictures of. I think we have a grand total of ONE (count 'em, 1) photo album in the entire house. I have maybe a single baby picture, a few of the in-between years, and every once in a blue moon, I'd bring home a photo taken on picture day from school. The only "family portrait" we've ever had was taken when I was three (so naturally, I don't remember), close to 20 years ago. And I can honestly say, it's never crossed mine, nor my parents' mind, to have another taken since.

• Cheese cubes are a BIG thing at my house. We eat them as appetizers with crackers and cream cheese almost every night. And Daniel had encouraged me to bring something I liked, since he had no idea what I ate on a regular basis (he's been asking lately, though I prefer not to discuss my eating habits). I also went with some rolls (with honey spread), spinach dip, and these butter herb cracker sticks for snacks. And lastly, butter mints, as a homage to what my family considers "essential" for a "traditional" Thanksgiving. The ham, cheese, honey spread, and spinach dip I could throw in the mail-out room's mini-fridge. All the rest I could set out until it was time to serve "dinner." Easy to transport. No mess. Mission accomplished.
