* Volume 2, Chapters 12-18
Important: Jaken's introductory chapter; serves as retainer/servant to Sesshoumaru; carries Nintoujou as means of protection/finding the Tetsusaiga.

* Volume 7, Chapters 59-64
Important: Jaken becomes responsible for retrieving detachable limbs for Sesshoumaru (i.e. detachable left arm); Naraku negotiates with Sesshoumaru, which irritates Jaken; Miroku "persuades" Jaken into revealing the mastermind behind the Saimyoushou.

* Volume 13, Chapters 125-126
Important: After Sesshoumaru commissions Toutousai to forge a sword, Jaken is sent to his dominion to retrieve it; Toutousai is nowhere to be found and refuses to forge Sesshoumaru a sword (Jaken is pummeled for saying "I guess he hates you after all."); Jaken inquires Sesshoumaru about the Tenseiga, and is struck down in demonstration of the sword's power; the Tenseiga cannot kill [the living] and Jaken stands unscathed.

* Volume 14, Chapters 130-131
Important: Jaken catches up with Sesshoumaru in the forest, who's been almost fatally injured by a blast from the Tetsusaiga; makes a comment on how the little girl (i.e. Rin) has been killed by wolves; Sesshoumaru revives the girl using the Tenseiga, and Jaken is dumbfounded.

* Volume 16, Chapters 157-158
Important: The group travels towards the remains of Goshinki, following Inuyasha's scent; Jaken "runs a race" with Rin, and is generally very irritated by her presence; it is unknown to him why Rin is still allowed to travel with them; Jaken is sliced in half by the Toukijin, after its evil possesses Kaijinbou.

* Volume 17, Chapters 159, 162-163
Important: Sesshoumaru uses the Tenseiga to revive Jaken; Jaken is deeply moved by his master's grand gesture (i.e. bringing him back to life); meets Kagura for the first time.

* Volume 19, Chapter 183
Important: After visiting a 2000 year-old tree youkai, Sesshoumaru and company learn the secret of Inuyasha's transformation and "full-youkai blood."

* Volume 21, Chapter 203
Important: Jaken meets Kagura for the second time when she approaches Sesshoumaru in hopes that he will free her from Naraku's grasp in exchange for the Shikon shards; acts mostly as a spectator.

* Volume 23, Chapters 219-220, 222
Important: Rin is kidnapped by Kagura on Jaken's watch; Sesshoumaru and Jaken pursue Naraku; Inuyasha "interrogates" Jaken about the confrontation between Sesshoumaru and Naraku.

* Volume 24, Chapter 238
Important: Sesshoumaru and party continue their search for Naraku; Jaken explains that Sesshoumaru is angry after being made sport of by Naraku during Rin's abduction; Jaken is given yet another large bump for "speaking out of line."

Important: Jaken and Rin are left behing while Sesshoumaru tends to other matters; Rin is left in Jaken's care.

* Volume 26, Chapters 252-253
Important: The party nears Mt. Hakurei, which is holy ground; Jaken is pained by the energy emitting from Mt. Hakurei; Kohaku appears and Rin runs after him, leaving Jaken behind; more groveling because of Rin's sudden disappearance.

* Volume 27, Chapters 259-261
Important: Jakotsu of the Shichinintai appears to battle Sesshoumaru; following an evil glare from Sesshoumaru, Jaken tries to protect Rin, but she falls from a bridge and is swept away in the currents; Jaken makes the comment, "If something happens to Rin, I'll be killed by Sesshoumaru-sama;" Mt. Hakurei's barrier is painful to Jaken and Sesshoumaru; Jaken disappears for the remainder of the story arc.

* Volume 28, Chapter 272
Important: Nothing really; panel or so of Sesshoumaru, Rin, and Jaken.

* Volume 29, Chapters 281-282
Important: Naraku uses Sesshoumaru to test the strength of his new body; Sesshoumaru and Jaken witnesses Kikyo's "death."

Important: Panel or so of Jaken and Rin talking about Sesshoumaru; Jaken is depressed.

* Volume 31, Chapter 303
Important: Rin is left, yet again, under Jaken's care; Kagura appears looking for Sesshoumaru, angering Jaken and frightening Rin.

* Volume 32, Chapters 316, 318
Important: Sesshoumaru and company are confronted by Kagura; group learns of "gateway between this world and the next;" Jaken is angered by Kagura's sudden appearance.

* Volume 33, Chapters 321-326
Important: Jaken travels with Sesshoumaru to the "gateway between this world and the next;" Sesshoumaru slices the creatures guarding the entrance to the "gateway between this world and the next," entering unharmed; Sesshoumaru strikes at Naraku, unconcerned that Jaken might be killed from the miasma; Jaken and Sesshoumaru later leave the "gateway between this world and the next" unscathed.

* Volume 35, Chapters 342-343
Important: Kagura approaches Sesshoumaru (again), asking if he would be interested in knowing the location of Naraku's heart; she leaves in his possession a youki crystal; Sesshoumaru leaves the youki crystal in Jaken's care.

* Chapters 350-351, 353
Important: Sesshoumaru's party stumbles upon the battered body of Kagura floating in the river; when Rin attempts to save Kagura, Jaken tries to save Rin from falling in the water after her, but ends up falling in the river himself; Sesshoumaru pulls Rin, Jaken, and Kagura from the river; Jaken asks Kagura why she doesn't know more about Naraku's heart if she's one of Naraku's minions; Jaken clutches Sesshoumaru's "tail" when they visit Goryoumaru's temple.

* Volume 37, Chapters 364-367
Important: After following the energy of the youki crystal, Sesshoumaru happens upon Mouryoumaru and Inuyasha; Jaken almost reveals Kagura as the one responsible for giving Sesshoumaru the youki crystal, but Sesshoumaru quickly shuts him up; acts mostly as a spectator during Sesshoumaru's battle with Mouryoumaru, and is worried about Sesshoumaru's seemingly thoughtless blows to Mouryoumaru's body.

* Volume 38, Chapter 371
Important: Sesshoumaru acts strangely; Jaken is confused by his abrupt disappearance.
